How to find a tutor?

You can apply different filters to ensure that you find the right tutor for you, including:

  • Tuition level: Reception / Early Years, Key Stage 2, Key Stage 3, Key Stage 4, GCSE and A-level
  • Online tuition or Face-to-face tuition
  • Private 1:1 tuition sessions or small group sessions
  • Find a location near you or online
  • Tutor hourly rate

Do I need to create an account to access a tutor?

Yes, you will need to create an account in order to access and communicate with the tutors on the Accelerate Tutors platform.

Creating a profile takes less than 5 minutes and is free.

How much does a tutor cost?

Tutors set their own hourly rates, all of which are available on their tutor profile, so you have full visibility of each tutor’s cost before signing up for a session.

Tutors will have different levels of costs depending on their experience, the subject and the level i.e. Primary school tuition may cost less than A-level tuition.

Many of our tutors offer group sessions which can help reduce the cost.

In addition to the tutor’s hourly rate there is a flat platform fee of £4.99 per 1:1 session or £2.99 per group session.

How do I make payments?

All payments are made through the site once a lesson has been confirmed by the tutor.

Accelerate Tutors uses the payment platform Stripe, which is a safe and secure way of making payments.

All payments should be made through the Accelerate Tutor website and the Stripe payment platform, never directly sent to the tutor – this is to protect you and your money.

How do I confirm lessons?

All lessons are confirmed directly to you by your tutor.

Once a lesson is booked you will receive a confirmation email.

All booked lessons can be found within your Accelerate Tutor profile and can be added directly to your own personal calendar.

I am unable to upload my profile photo?

The maximum file size for an image is 2MB, if you are unable to upload an image then this is likely to be the case.

Where will the tuition take place?

Our tutors can offer sessions at either your own house, the tutors house or a secure meeting place of your own choosing, ensuring that safety is the main priority.

Tutors can also offer online tuition allowing for lessons to take place from any geographical location.

How do online lessons work?

All online lessons will take place via Zoom.

Once you have confirmed a time with your specified tutor, they will then send you a Zoom link for you to access the lesson.

The link will become live just before your allocated time slot.

I don’t have a Zoom account?

This is fine, you should be able to just click onto the link without creating an account with Zoom, you can do this via their app or their online software.

If online lessons are going to be reoccurring, then it may be easier to create a Zoom account, it is free and will only take 5 minutes to set up.

Should you have issues with Zoom either in the setting up process or ongoing issues then Zoom offer 24/7 support around their platform.

What do I do if I have forgotten my password?

Should you forget your password then you can request a password reset,  https://acceleratetutors.com/portal/forgot, simply follow the instructions which will be sent to the  email address  that you used to register your account.

How do I leave feedback?

At the end of each session you will be given the opportunity to leave feedback about your tutor, whether this be positive or negative your opinion matters and will help other users in determining whether or not to choose a specific tutor.

This is something which Accelerate Tutors actively encourages as we want to ensure all users have access to the highest level of tutors.

I need to cancel my session?

Sometimes things come up which means that you are unable to make your specified tutor sessions.

Through your profile you can simply reschedule or cancel it, as long as this is more than 24 hours from when the lesson is due to begin.

Should you reschedule and your tutor agrees to the new date and time then your booking will be updated and you will receive a notification of this in your profile.

Should you wish to cancel then any payment due won’t be taken and your balance will remain unaffected.

If your cancellation is within the 24 hour notice period and you don’t wish to re-schedule, then you will be subject to a 50% cancellation fee.
